How do I get an image off the net and into my signature?

Signatures-

Ok, first off, you host the picture... you can do this in various places, but the two most common ones are Imageshack and Photobucket. Then, both of them should give you a link that has a tag that looks like [*IMG] except without the *. Copy that one, and paste it in the signature area in the profile menu, and there you go. ^_^ If you want a custom sig instead of merely a pic, I'd be happy to make you one. <3

My avatar won't show! - & - How do I get an avatar?

Ok, it's perhaps best if you host it on a site, like Imageshack or Photobucket. It isn't supposed to be any larger than 100 x 100, though sometimes 100 x 150 will work. (those are dimensions, juuust incase you don't know. :3) After hosting it, copy the direct link, and go into your profile. There should be a little text are labeled "Link to Off-Site avatar" or something of that nature under the avatar area. Post in that address and it should work.

If you already have it hosted like I explained and it still isn't working, it could be the host, or you could have messed up the link somehow. o.o

You can also upload an avatar, but I don't really recommend it. ^^; So many ristrictions.

What is a clan? - & - How can I make one?

Clans/Organizations are a great way to make friends and learn all about AL. I can't tell you exactly how every clan is, because you are only allowed to join ONE now. But, common for most clans are RPGs within the private forum, and clan challenges. Challenges are posted up, and asked to be participated in. They vary as well, but some of the ones I've participated in were making banners for AL, drawing a mascot for a forum, and RPG spars/ wars. The material is judged, and the clans get points, depending on how good the submitted work was. Most clans are close, so you'd more than likely make lots of friends in a clan.
-Also, if you aren't interested in any of the clans, you can attempt to make your own within the Clannation forum. If interested in doing so, be SURE to read the rules, and also be sure not to make a repeat clan! Unless the rules have changed, after posting up what your clan is all about and such, you are to try and get members interested in joining. After you get ten interested members, you can pm the Hmod (whoever it is at the time) and tell them that you are ready to become a clan! But, this isn't really recommended until you know what you're getting into. And as I said, the rules could have changed, so be sure and read.

Phew, and here we go with RPs now:

Ok, rp, rp, how to explain... RP= Role-Playing for those who don't know. It's basically an interactive story so to speak, I'm much better in examples than I am definitions. ^^; If this doesn't clear it up, then let me know and I'd be more than happy to tell you in the areas you more specifically need help in:
Ok, well in creating a thread, in cityscape, you MUST have at least five complete sentences of describing the environment. For a bar, here's an example: (not the minimum example of five sentences, but hey, it works. XD)

Entering the thick wooden doors you would first lay eyes on the bar, with it's seven tall stools perfectly side by side. To your left, there are a few small tables with two chairs each. To your right is the kitchen area where only employees are allowed. Straight ahead, past the bar, there are two doors, one labeled "Men's Room," the other "Women's Room." The place was very ordinary, not very decorative. It's walls were made of long, thin, vertical planks of dark wood, that gave off a polished glow. A few pictures here and there, of random advertisements, old posters, and one of a ship sailing peaceful on the gentle sea. There is a small clock on the wall just behind the bar. Also, to the side wall behind the bar, away from the refridgerator, stove, and such, there is a tall glass cabinet stocked with the best of wines and liqours.

Even though I got a bit carried away with that, it is all describing the environment, that right there would be acceptable. ^_^ Then you could go on describing the bar tender always seeming to clean his spotless glass, yadda yadda. See, that should paint an image in your head, compare that, to this:

It's a small bar with wooden walls and doors. It doesn't have very many decorations. There are a few tables and chairs to the left, and the bar straight ahead, then to the right there is a kitchen area, with a cabinet full of wines and stuff.

For one, that gives a slight image, but not a very good one, and two, it's not the required five sentences. Now, as for role-playing a character, you would be just as descriptive about your character as you are with your environment, if not more. Tell how your character feels, what they see, what they think... Example:

A tall, slender youth walks into the bar, scanning the area with her ocean blue eyes. Her long amethyst hair reached down to mid-back, curling slightly at the ends. It glistened in the dim light as she tossed it back over her shoulder, pushing a few stray strands of hair from in front of her face. She was extremely pale, the only color was the light shade of pink in her cheeks, so of course her entirely black outfit made her skin seem to glow. Her attire consists of a sleeveless black tank top, a mini skirt, tall gloves stretching to her mid upper arm, and tall boots that end just below her knees. Accessory wise, she had a diamond braclet that dangled slightly, that matched perfectly with her dangling diamond earrings, that nearly touched her shoulders. Her solid black chocker contained a small diamond in it's center. With a quick flash of her florescent white teeth, she walked across the room, her heels clicking along the way, and took her seat at the bar. "Hello sir, may I ask your specials tonight?"

That'd make one great introduction of your character to a bar. (I just might use it next time. XD) I'm pretty sure you can picture little Ame there. <3 (And yes, I know I didn't add in her name, but that's my character I use most commonly in cityscape.) Once again, compare that, to this:

A teenage girl walks in and sits down at the bar, "Hello sir, may I ask your specials tonight?" Her hair was long, and amethyst. Her eyes were blue. Her outfit was entirely black, and was a sleevless shirt, gloves, boots, and a mini skirt. She had on a necklace, earrings, and braclet which were diamond.

Get the image? Phew, sorry, I got a bit carried away, but that should answer any questions about how to. XD
Also, remember that in cityscape try to be original with your RPGs. If there are far too many bars or something, don't make another one. Like me for instance, I made the first house in CS after finding out there were too many bars at the time. ^.~ Oh yeah baby!

Remember the cityscape rules:
No Double-Posting, which is basically an AL rule. This is where you post twice, one after another.
No One-lining- This is where you come in and only post one line. If your post is that short, press enter to seperate your words and actions, like so:
One Line:
She smiles and blushes as he asks her to sit beside him. "C-Certainly."
Not one line:
She smiles and blushes as he asks her to sit beside him.
"C-Certainly."
No Two-waying- This is over five posts back and forth between two consecutive members.
Person A: Blah
Person B: Blah

-If Person B posts again without another member posting, it's a two way-

Moderator: That's a two way!

Correct way:

What is sparring???
Sparring is just another category of role-play. It's where two (possibly more) characters fight each other. Depending on the circumstances, they can be judged. This isn't really recommended for new role-players, as it can get a little tricky with the rules. If you are still interested, pm me back and I'll go into more detail.

Example of sparring: (I'll be controlling the two characters since I am not actually sparring. ^^: and also I'm not going into describing my characters, it'd take FAR too long. If you need help on how to rp in general, and how to properly describe things, read the cityscape section.)
Ame walks into the clearing of the dark woods, cautiously scanning the area. Hearing a slight rustle in the leaves, she hastely draws her sword and swings it out in front of her as she turns toward the general direction of where she heard the sound. "C-come on out! I know you're here you fiend!" Still scanning the woods her breathing became less and less, it was as if she was holding her breath so as to hear.

Suddenly, a quick whip of wind is heard, and a blur is seen racing past Ame. Behind her, stood a tall demon, with a smirk on his face. "Dear sweet Ame, that wasn't a very nice comment you made there... oh my poor fragile FEELINGS." With the aggrivated tone, he shot his massive hand down toward her, his claws extended, and ready to slice.

Ame gave a scream and lept out of the way, barely making it in one peice. She trembled as she turned looking to the demon, and held strong her sword in front of her. "W-what do you want with me?!" She was scared to death, her heart felt as if it was to beat out of her chest. Her breathing was fast now. There was no way she could keep up with his speed. But, she knew she'd only be dead sooner if she simply stood there, so with a loud battle cry she raced toward him and with a powerful swing of her blade, prayed that she had hit him.

The demon seemed to be shocked that Ame had charged toward him, but nonetheless he vanished just before being sliced. "You got lucky young one, I like your spunk... I'll make this quick!" He reappeared behind her, and with his fists clenched together hammered her in the back of the head.

I think you get the point.

Rules to remember:
-NO GOD MODDING! This is where you control the other person's character, or attack without letting them have time to respond. For instance:

After he had kicked him in the stomache, he tossed him into the air, throwing multiple balls of energy toward him. Then, as he fell to the ground, Sage raced over and began brutally beating him into the ground further.

Proper way;
Sage raced toward him and kicked, aiming for his stomache. If this connected, he would toss his opponent into the air, and fire multiple energy blasts at him.

See how much more fair that is? If the other player decides not to come up with a way to dodge, they would make it so your character went through with all of that.
-No meta-gaming! This is where you attack, but don't tell what the attack would do to your opponent. Example:

Hikari fired an orb of black energy toward the opponent, grinning. This was no ordinary energy blast.

Proper way:

Hikari fired an orb of black energy toward the opponent, grinning. This was no ordinary energy blast, it would follow its target until it hit it, which would in turn deal major damage.

If you're still interested, you should really read the rules. They vary depending on the forum, but those two should be universal.

How do I create an RP character???
Creating a character:

Ok, basically, you start with the necessities:

-Description-
What is his/her name?
His/her species? -human, demon, angel, etc.
Is it a male or female?
How old is he/she?
What color is his/her hair?
What color is his/her skin?
What color is his/her eyes?
Are they tall, normal, short?
Any special characteristics such as tattoos, claws, cat ears?
What outfit are they wearing?

-Other-
What is his/her personality?
What special abilities does he/she have? -Examples are elemental magic, transformations, ability to manipulate time, etc.
What is the background of this person? -A brief history basically.

Here's an example of a bio:

Name: Yue Hotsumatsu
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Species: Cat Demon
Description: Yue is a moderately tall, slender youth. Her long golden blonde hair stretches down to mid-back, curling slightly at the ends. Her dark red eyes seemed to stand out from her ghostly white skin. She has a few marks here and there, tiger striped markings that were a dark brown. One was located on her right cheek, the rest throughout her body. She had tall cat-like ears that seemed to always be perked up in attention. Her long tail seemed to always be wrapped around her right leg when she stood still. She had extremely long claw-like nails, that were naturally black.
Attire Her outfit seemed not much more than a two-peice bathingsuit. The top was solid black, with red straps, and the bottom was more like a short pair of shorts, black with a red belt line, with a small hole in the back for her tall to come through. She had her hair pushed back with a matching black headband, only a small red square in the center.
Personality: She is very short tempered, and she seems to believe fighting the aggrivation - whether it's a person or inanimate object - will solve everything. This attitude gets her into a lot of trouble. She's also more a loner than a person that enjoys being in groups, due to growing up this way. She doesn't have very many people skills, as you can clearly see.
History: Yue was born in a litter of three, and her mother and siblings were taken one day. While the obduction was occuring, Yue was chasing a small creature through the forest, only to return to an abandoned home. Yue stayed in her original home hoping one day her family would return. Finally, she was forced to leave when she awoke one day in a cage. This is where Yue discovered her transformation abilities, and turned into her human like form, breaking free. Now Yue is adapting to city life, and still holds the hope of one day finding her family.
Ablities:
Cat's Eye - it gives her the advantage in a dark area, even without a single trace of light.
Scratch - Her most commonly used technique, nothing more than a very powerful scratch attack.
Killer Instinct - Yue can transform into her full demon form, which is an extremely large tiger like being.
---Her senses are also hightened more than normal humans, she can see in darker places, her senses of smell, sight, and hearing are far more enhanced.

There, not the most high quality bio, but hey, I'm making this up as I go.

Not every RP requires a bio, but it's good to at least know what you WOULD have put if you had to make one.
